Asset Tags Printing Labels for Asset Identification
In most cases, when an organization implements an asset management system, particularly if the system utilizes bar code, RFID or BLE technologies, an existing population of assets must be physically tagged.
The most common approach is to have labels or tags preprinted, either:
Print labels with sequential # and matching bar code
Print labels with asset # and matching bar code based on data within the asset database
In both cases, if the asset tag includes RFID, the RFID computer chip is encoded with the asset # / bar code. As such, labels can be quickly applied to physical assets corresponding to asset database records in the SmartTraxx asset management system.
SmartTraxx also supports sheet and thermal printers, enabling an organization to print labels corresponding to asset database records and/or to print labels as assets are added to the asset registry.
SmartTraxx supports asset label printing, including any data from within the database that will ‘fit’ on the label, and, supports factory produced labels with sequential numbering.
Significant thought must be applied to determine the most effective and efficient manner of utilizing an organizations existing asset tags and/or provision of new asset tags for tagging existing assets. Bar code, RFID or BLE asset management solutions cannot perform, unless assets are tagged appropriately.
