GPS Asset Tracking

GPS Asset Tracking
GPS tags can be placed on any type of asset, and are best known for use with vehicles, for real-time tracking anywhere there is satellite coverage.
An advantage of GPS tracking over UHF or Active RFID is that there is no need for readers/antennas to detect tagged assets, and an advantage over GSM tracking is that GSM cell tower coverage is not required. A disadvantage of GPS tracking versus GSM tracking is that GPS tracking requires ‘line of sight’, meaning that assets that are indoors are not detected.
GPS trackers incur a monthly charge for satellite usage, which can be inhibitively expensive for non-critical assets.
For vehicles or assets that require real-time, worldwide tracking, such as vehicles or cargo, GPS offers tracking capabilities not available through any other tracking technology currently available in the marketplace.
