Bluetooth Asset Tracking

Bluetooth Asset Tracking
Bluetooth (BLE) technology is an emerging and transformational asset tracking technology. Whereas a UHF RFID detection zone may cost approximately $2,500.00 or an Active RFID detection zone approximately $750.00, a Bluetooth detection zone (interrogator) costs less than $100.00. As such, cost generally does not inhibit the number of detection zones established with Bluetooth tracking technology, whereas with UHF RFID cost typically requires fewer detection zones than required for real-time tracking, and, the cost of Active RFID readers may require larger zones that ideal for preciseness of asset location identification.
Bluetooth readers typically have up to approximately 600’ detection distances, and can be calibrated for distances from a few inches up to 600’.
Bluetooth tags can be detected by indoors or outdoors readers with automatic updates to the asset tracking database. Bluetooth tags can also be associated in the asset tracking database with a specific smart phone that is tracked by cell towers and assets in proximity of the smart phone are updated in the database based on the coordinates of the phone itself.
When using a phone in association with assets, if a tagged asset moves out-of-range of the smart phone, automatic alerts can be transmitted.
