GSM asset tracking is similar to Bluetooth asset tracking, however, GSM asset tracking has the unique and revolutionary capability for tags to be detected directly by cell towers rather than requiring tags to be detected by Bluetooth readers or smart phones.
With cutting edge microchip GSM tags, asset and people tracking are tracked anywhere, all the time, indoors or outdoors, wherever cell towers have coverage. If a tagged asset or person drops out of range of cell towers, they are re-identified immediately upon returning to areas of GSM cell tower coverage.
Microchip GSM tags can also be associated with cell phones, to identify and automate alerts if a tagged object becomes a defined distance away from the phone. For example, if a laptop is stolen at an airport or anywhere, when the laptop travels ‘n’ distance from the owner’s cell phone, alerts are automatically triggered.
Microchip GSM tags require registration and fees for GSM network(s) similar to required for cell phones.
