UHF RFID 915MHz Asset Tracking

UHF RFID Asset Tracking
UHF RFID asset tracking is accomplished by deploying network-connected RFID antennas throughout facilities. RFID antennas can be placed on ceilings, above ceilings, on walls or on any surface, and, if needed, RFID antennas can be deployed via stand-up portals (similar to a retail store).
UHF RFID detection zones detect assets at a specific location, such as along a hallway, through a door or within an office or workstation cluster. The RFID antennas can be attenuated for detection distances from a few feet up to approximately 20’. As such, UHF RFID establishes ‘last place asset was detected’, whereas the cost to deploy enough UHF antennas for real-time tracking ‘anywhere / anytime’ is almost always prohibitively expensive.
There are many styles of UHF RFID asset tags, ranging in price from around $0.10 to $5.00. Tags can be applied to tags and the tag encoded with asset #, or, the RFID # can be enrolled to the RFID asset database in association with the corresponding asset’s asset #.
Depending on the size of tags, the tag face can be pre-printed with a sequential bar code #, which can be scanned into the database when tagging and enrolling assets to the RFID asset database. Asset tags can also be printed and tags encoded with asset # using thermal printers and/or asset tags can be printed on sheet printers and the RFID #’s commissioned to the database correlating to asset #’s.
