RFID Asset Receipts, Assignments and Check In / Check Out

When assets are ordered or received, data about each asset can be imported from a backend ERP or other computer system, to automatically populate the RFID asset database. Asset data can also be entered by keyboard to create asset database records and/or can be enrolled utilizing a portable scanner.

If assets are placed into temporary storage, the assets can be transferred using the RFID asset database and a USB RFID scanner to location = storage, or, any such named location indicating that the asset is currently in a storage area.

If assets are assigned to a person or place, the location can be selected from the RFID asset database location drop-down list or an ID card can be scanned indicating the transfer of the asset from storage to a more permanent location, such as an office or a person.

If assets travel back and forth between circulation and storage, the RFID asset database includes a specialized tracking screen that enables the location to be rapidly updated in the database, by scanning an asset tag and then selecting or keyboard input of the location to which the asset is being transferred.

For environments where advanced chain-of-custody or security is required, recipients of assets can be required to authenticate acceptance of asset custody via electronic signature or fingerprint recognition.

The locations of assets can be periodically verified by performing asset inventories with portable RFID scanners, which scan a location tag and then assets at the location are scanned, to keep the RFID asset database up-to-date with assets and asset locations.
